Book Review/Discussion: "The Beauty Myth" by Naomi Wolf
It's one thing to read a book, and another to absorb it and to change your life. I'm not talking about some holy book, but it's damn near close to those ranks.
I've been lamenting being the only person in my circle of friends who've read The Beauty Myth, how my attempts at discussion of several of its points drew blanks with them, and of how after (re)reading and digesting it, I personally felt the need to act or do something about it.
Now, having discovered at least three other women who've read it and felt strongly about it, I propose a get-together to exchange our views and perhaps discuss a plan of action after being presented with these myths/facts the author wrote about.
Anyone else interested? Lets plan a few (?) months ahead as I think ShuXian will be out of the country for awhile. I'm talking Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, mostly. And preferably meeting irl, even if you feel compelled to come with/without makeup, with/without stilettos, or with/without a paperbag over your head :P
